Meet the Thousand Oaks Team Behind Otto’s Garage Door
When you call Otto’s Garage Door, the person who answers is someone who lives in this county, drives these roads, and will probably see you at the hardware store on Saturday. We’ve been fixing and installing garage doors in Thousand Oaks since 2004, and the crew has stayed small on purpose. No rotating cast of strangers. No call center reading from a script. You get a small team of people who know garage doors the way you know your own street, and who answer to Otto Reinhardt personally on every single job.
Our People
Otto Reinhardt – Owner & Lead Technician
Otto founded Otto’s Garage Door in 2004 after years of watching big companies treat garage doors like an afterthought. He still takes calls himself, often at nine at night when a spring lets go and your car is trapped inside. He quotes the job on the phone and holds that number when he shows up. Otto can look at a set of springs and tell you roughly how many cycles they have left, the way you’d estimate tire wear on a car. He’s trained across all major brands, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Craftsman, and Raynor, and he’s the one who signs the 90-Day Done Right Promise on every invoice. If something isn’t right, one call brings Otto back. No runaround, no ticket number, no queue. He likes old trucks, strong coffee, and the fact that his name is a palindrome. Reads the same from either end. Same as a properly balanced door.
Miguel S. – Senior Installer
Miguel has been installing garage doors in Ventura County for over 15 years, the last 9 of them with Otto’s crew. He handles most of our full door replacements and new construction installs, and he’s the guy who notices when a header needs reinforcement or a track needs shimming before it becomes a problem. Miguel is certified on Clopay and Amarr product lines and has installed every configuration you can think of, from standard 16-by-7 steel doors to custom carriage house styles on older Thousand Oaks homes. He’s the one who double-checks the balance after every spring job, even when the customer just wants to get back in the house. Miguel coaches youth soccer in Newbury Park on weekends and has a garage workshop more organized than most kitchens.
Dana R. – Service Coordinator
Dana is usually the first voice you hear when you call Otto’s Garage Door. She’s been with Otto since 2016 and knows the schedule, the truck inventory, and which neighborhoods in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and Newbury Park tend to have which door models. Dana keeps the day moving without ever making you feel rushed. If you call about a broken spring at 7 a.m., she’ll have someone at your house that morning. If you call with a written estimate from another company, she’ll book you a free second opinion and make sure Otto or Miguel shows up with the parts to do the comparison right. Dana grew up in Thousand Oaks and can tell you which streets flood in a heavy rain year, which matters more than you’d think for door sensor alignment. She’s the one who remembers that your dog doesn’t like the noise and reminds the crew to knock first.
Trevor K. – Apprentice Technician
Trevor came on board two years ago after working residential construction in Simi Valley. He’s learning the trade the right way, riding along on repairs, watching spring replacements under close supervision, and absorbing the brand-specific quirks of LiftMaster and Genie openers. Trevor handles a lot of our maintenance calls, rollers, hinges, weather seals, sensor alignment, and he’s getting sharp at diagnosing opener issues that turn out to be door problems instead. He’s the tallest guy on the crew, which is genuinely useful on high-lift setups. Trevor grew up in Thousand Oaks, went to TOHS, and he’s the one who keeps the truck clean. His standard is simple: if he wouldn’t accept the work on his own family’s door, it doesn’t pass.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this crew works under the same roof, literally and figuratively. Otto’s name is on the van, the invoice, and the license. Miguel, Dana, and Trevor know that when a door leaves our hands, Otto’s reputation is the one on the line. So the job gets done the same way every time: show up when you said you would, quote the real price before any work starts, use the right parts, and stand behind it in writing for 90 days. If the opener is straining, nobody here just swaps in a new one and calls it fixed. We find out why. If a spring breaks, we replace both of them, because a door is 200 pounds riding on two springs, and you respect that or you get hurt. Danny from down the street gets the same care as a call from a property manager managing 40 doors. That’s the standard. It’s not a policy in a binder. It’s the way Otto built the company, and it’s the way this crew works every day.
